Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes, at Pure Wellness colonics, our therapist is a registered nurse and a trained and experienced colon hydrotherapist. Our clinic uses FDA-registered equipment, and all procedures are conducted following strict hygiene and safety protocols to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Only sterile water will be administered into the colon allowing a gentle method for the release of stool and gas. Sessions are limited to 45 minutes to ensure good bacteria remains in the colon for improved gastrointestinal balance.

What should I expect during a colon hydrotherapy session?

During the session, you will wear a gown and be draped for privacy. A small disposable rectal tube or speculum is gently inserted into the rectum. Warm, filtered water is then slowly released into the colon, which may induce peristaltic contractions and lead to the evacuation of fecal material through natural defecation.

How long does a session last?

A typical colon hydrotherapy appointment will be scheduled for one hour. The session lasts about 45 minutes and the remaining time allows for preparation and dressing.

Will I experience any discomfort?

It is common for clients to experience some light cramping as the water fills the colon. The discomfort is related to stool moving through the intestine and is generally mild.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on individual health goals and conditions. Some may feel refreshed after just one session, while others might benefit from a series of treatments. It is recommended that a client complete three to four colonics sessions over the course of several weeks to cleanse the colon. After the series, you can discuss a personalized treatment plan with the therapist to fit your needs and expectations.

Can everyone undergo colon hydrotherapy?

While most people can benefit from colon hydrotherapy, it’s not suitable for everyone. Contraindications include, but are not limited to, recent bowel surgery, hernias, active infections, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, and pregnancy.
